The Ripple Faucet

It must be a great design for water ball ripples. Designer Smith Newnam takes inspiration from surface ripples. Just as showed in these pictures, you can control the faucet through a metal ball on top of the frosted ripple surface. Moving the ball in or out from the center controls water pressure. Moving it around controls temperature. Because of the flash heating,  you don’t worry about scalding yourself. The water in the hot water channel isn’t hot until it’s ready to be mixed via flash heating system. A smart idea is that the surface glows red or blue to denote how hot or cold it is. Although this high-tech faucet Water Ball Ripple is only a concept now, I believe it will be available soon.  [Via Yankodesign]

Angled corner picture frames by details

The german company details has a great design for using the dead corners of the walls. As showed in this picture, the great idea is angled corner picture frames. Find them in natural maple or beech black finishes, and choose from inside or outside corner styles through the details website. Now you can display your pictures in this unique way. Well, I found the prices to be a bit steep, €198 for inside and €224 for outside. [Via Hometone]

Home theater by an architect has the dimmer-controlled lighting system

James Biber an architect and partner at Pentagram has designed this home theater in Montauk, N.Y., get idea from Radio City Music Hall.

The home theater, which takes up 350 square feet in a 1,500-square-foot basement, had to have soundproofing and dimmable lights, and the client wanted seating on the floor.

What impresses me most about this home theater is the lighting, which is hidden in the arches facing the stage. 600 five-watt dimmer-controlled light bulbs are installed but the light is very soft. On the dimmest setting, the lights prevent the theater from being completely dark. [Via The New York Times]

Cardboard Cube Speakers

Cardboard Cube Speakers

I’m not a big fan of the speakers, but this is tempting. These speakers are made out of cardboard, so they are much lighter than other speakers and can be folded away. It is so portable that you can place it in gripsack while travelling. You just need to plug them into your MP3 player’s headphone jack and then enjoy quality sound.
