SeaOrbiter – A Spectacular Marine Skyscraper

French architect Jacques Rougerie has designed the 170 feet (51m) tall SeaOrbiter that will be the first marine skyscraper. The construction of this impressive research ocean skyscraper has begun at the end of 2012. Two-thirds of the spectacular vessel is underwater, perfect for accommodating a team of 18-22 researchers who will be able to spend 24 hours a day underwater. Part submarine, part research vessel, the SeaOrbiter is expected to cost around $43 million and will be powered by sustainable resources like solar, wind and wave power.
