Takasugi-an, Teahouse on Stilts

Created by architect Terunobu Fujimori, Takasugi-an is located in Nagano Prefecture, Japan and built atop two chestnut trees, cut from a nearby mountain and transported to the site. The interior is covered with plaster and bamboo mats.

“Across South Tyrol in northern Italy, log stacks (or “musls,” as they’re known locally) sit in fields across the lush landscape. A WWI Warplane Sits On Top a New York City Skyscraper

A World War I biplane parked on a rooftop landing strip at 77 Water Street in New York City. As a replica of a British Sopwith Camel fighter, the plane was hoisted on to the roof in 1969 as a bit of architectural whimsy by the owners of the building.

Manhattan Home with Living Room Pool

Manhattan Townhouse has a Pool in the living room. The 15-by-30-foot pool is eight-feet deep and was installed in 1975 by previous owners. “The pool level has a brick wall and is surrounded by granite flooring and living-room furnishings. Ms. McMurray Van-Zeller said the artwork, antiques, medieval weaponry and plantings in the adjoining atrium give the space a “cave-like, medieval, Moroccan look.”
