The caption: “This photo taken on September 26, 2011 shows a group of giant panda cubs napping at a nursery in the research base of the Giant Panda Breeding Centre in Chengdu, in southwest China’s Sichuan province. China has launched its once-a-decade panda census, trying to determine how many of the endangered animals live in the wild amid efforts to boost numbers. The census — the fourth since it was first launched in the 1970s — is also expected to ascertain pandas’ living conditions, ages and any change in habitat. According to the count a decade ago, there are 1,596 pandas left in the wild in China, with 1,206 of them living in Sichuan.”    Via

The I-Movix SprintCam v3 showreel for NAB 2009 exhibition.

Called Google Typography, this interesting project was created by Melbourn-based director Rhett Dashwood. Over the course of several months beginning October 2008 to April 2009 I’ve spent some of my spare time between commercial projects searching Google Maps hoping to discover land formations or buildings resembling letter forms. These are the results of my findings limited within the state of Victoria, Australia.  [Via]

The venerable New York Times today announced its new ‘Nano’ edition. We shrunk everything else, Sully Oxburger, the Times’ publisher-in-chief explained. “First, we shrunk the number of pages, then the number of sections, then our offices, then our staff, and finally our printing facilities. Then one day I saw the new Ipod Nano, and I the idea just came to me.”

TBWA created these amazing billboards with a built-in simulated blizzard, promoting Tryvann Vinterpark which is a modern and highly equipped ski resort only 15 minutes from the center of Norway’s capital city, Oslo. A smart technical solution made it possible to create a mini snowstorm inside transparent billboards. Every time it snowed at Tryvann Winter Park, mini snowstorm was started and stopped by sending an SMS. Continue reading for the Video.
