Vertical Bed for 1 Day Street Sleeping

vertical-bed1.jpg

Artist Jamie O’Shea created this Vertical Bed and the bed was displayed during the Conflux Festival in New York city. Jamie O’Shea walked around the Conflux area with his Vertical Bed in a suitcase, found himself a nice spot, anchored his prostheses above subway vents and used the bed to sleep in an upright position for 40 minute intervals several times in a day. Concealed harnesses ensure that Jamie didn’t fall over. Back and neck supports keep the person comfortable while mirrored sunglasses and sound canceling headphones block out the rest of the world. And just in case it rains there’s an umbrella.

Self-Sustainable Chair by JooYoun Paek

bubblebuttchair.jpg

When I first saw this Self-Sustainable Chair, I was left without words because the idea is so brilliant and crazy. Created by korean designer JooYoun Paek, the Self-Sustainable Chair is a wearable piece of furniture which is a dress where the butt inflates into a chair through pumps in the shoes. The balance between exercise and rest would be maintained by wearing this suit. Interesting design! If you don’t mind others look twice on what you wear then you can try this funny design. Joyrider Bike by Moritz Waldemeyer

joyrider1.jpg

London-based inventor, engineer and designer Moritz Waldemeyer has designed the Joyrider which is a revolutionary accessory that transforms a bicycle into a moving light show using just one LED. The design evokes new rave couture, with its iconic smiley face, the universal sign for happiness and the strobe effect, bringing kitsch glamour to the cycling experience. The two sterling silver, Swarovski studded components are attached to the spokes of the wheel, emitting a fixed image of a smiley face using a single LED light. This effect is achieved through inbuilt microchips that are able to calculate the speed of the wheel in such a way that the smiley face remains stationary while the wheel spins. Really interesting design for your ride at night and how much mileage you get out of it really depends on how much you like to see others happy. Two Joyriders were auctioned at the ICA 2008 Gala earlier this year, where they fetched £2000.

Awesome Mower Concept – Muwi

muwi2.jpg

Four Korean university students designed the Muwi – an automated mower barreled shape to compact grass cuttings into either a ball or a cylindrical block. The blocks can be toys for children to play with or be combined to make a chair or anything else you can think of. I think they are also beautiful decoration for your lawn.

Kinderlite Disposable Campfire

campfire_72_1.jpg

Kinderlite disposable campfire by Philip John Luscombe from Northumbria University, is a great design for those who love to go a weekend camping with friends but completely lack any basic survival skills like building and starting a fire. It uses a hanging cardboard container that probably contains a fuel source as well as kindling-type material, as well as a wooden frame with pre-drilled holes that makes it easy to create a teepee structure from gathered twigs.  [via..]
