Gas Gripper
Made of safe, static-resistant plastic, the Gas Gripper($4.98) lets you go hands-free while pumping. Clip the gripper in place around the gas lever and relase your grip giving those tired driving hands a rest. It even stores neatly around your cap for added convenience. [via..]

Worst idea ever. Ever spilled gasoline all over you, your car and the ground?

If I am not mistaken there is a catch on each handle for which the purpose is to hold the handle till full and then the system trips. Katrina, it would do the same with the little plastic gizmo they are trying to sell, but why spend 4.95 when the handle already has it built in.

Might have to do with state laws as to whether the gas handle can have the lever to keep the gas flowing without anyone holding it. At least in Colorado I’ve never had to continue holding the lever to fill up the tank. When the tank is full the gas shuts off whether the lever is pressed or not.

This is illegal in many states

It is abundant since today every grip should have a built in “a catching” which releases when the tank´s full (how does it work? By sensing the gas-density which might increase when the tank is more filled?).
