How To Remove Mold In The House


Molds love to live in warm, humid, and dark areas of the home. Without knowing it, mold spread too fast and can be difficult to get rid of once it multiplies.  Did you know that within 24-48 hours molds can grow rapidly? If taken for granted, molds can cause an allergic reaction and can lead to respiratory illnesses. The molds must be stopped from spreading before it hits your family! You can usually find the molds in areas with moisture like in the kitchen, bathroom, and basement area. There is no easy way to get rid of molds than by keeping a place clean. Do-It-Yourself  Mold Remediation

Mold removal should be done immediately, once you find out that there are molds in corner of your home. Here are some home remedies to get rid of household mold immediately:

  1. Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is good for dental cleaning and it can be found in your medicine cabinets. It has an antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial solution that is suitable for stopping the mold caused by bacteria. You can use this in your appliances, bathroom tubs, floors, and walls as well. Pour a 3% concentration of Hydrogen peroxide in a bottle and discrete surface first to avoid damage. Then saturates it on the molds and lets it sits for 10 minutes. After that, scrub the surface to remove the black mold and its stains. After removing the mold stains, wipe with a dry scrap.

  1. Vinegar

White vinegar can be used for cleaning and disinfecting. It can kill 82% of mold species. You can safely use it on almost any surface. Although it has an offensive odor, it is good for cleaning molds. Pour the undiluted white vinegar into a spray bottle and sprays it on the moldy surface, and let sit for an hour. Then you can wipe it off with water and let the surface dry. To maintain its effectiveness white vinegar should be undiluted. Don’t worry about the sour smell because it will just clear up in a few hours.

  1. Baking soda

Baking soda is very helpful in relieving heartburn or whitening skin and teeth. Some of its amazing works are to whiten up the surface and get rid of molds. It’s a non-toxic and effective way to remove mold and absorbs moisture so new mold cannot come out. Add ¼ tablespoon of baking soda to a spray bottle with water. Shake until the baking soda dissolves. Spray on the moldy surface and scrub the molds off with a brush. Then, rinse the moldy place with water to remove any residue. And spray again and this time let the surface dries on its own. This way you will kill the remaining mold and it won’t come out to the surface again.

  1. Essential oils

Essential oils like tea tree oil are effective fungicides in cleaning up and preventing mold from coming back. As easy as adding 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil to a spray bottle with a cup of water, you can have your own DIY mold spray. Shake well until the oil and water are mixed. Spray on the darkened surface and leaves it for an hour until its dries, then wipe with dry scrap. Make sure to wear your protective gloves in case your skin is easily irritated by oils.

  1. Lemons

Among the fruits most used for various functions is the lemon. Lemons are antiseptic, stain removers, and even mold removers. It has a high acid concentration which is effective against fungal disinfection and leaves an aromatic citrus scent as well.

Prepare the juice from 3 to 5 lemons in a cup and pour it on the moldy areas. Let it stands for five minutes, then wipe the infected area with a damp cloth. Reapply for a more desirable clean condition on the surface.

These are home remedies that are available, accessible, and affordable for removing house mold. You don’t have to go outside to buy expensive solutions and gives time for mold to spread further because you can immediately eliminate mold right away using your DIY mold solution.
